Massage

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue Massage is a therapeutic massage technique that focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. It’s especially helpful for chronic aches and pains and areas of muscle tension such as the neck, upper back, lower back, legs, and shoulders.

>>>Deep tissue massage is often confused with deep pressure massage, but they’re different: deep tissue is about depth and precision, not just firm pressure.

Key Features

Targeted Pressure: Uses slow, firm strokes and deep finger pressure to target the inner layers of muscles and fascia.

Specific Focus: Works on specific muscle groups or problem areas, often to release chronic muscle tension.

Techniques Used: Involves knuckles, elbows, forearms, and thumbs to access deeper tissues

May Be Intense: Some discomfort is normal during the session, but it shouldn’t be painful. Communication between therapist and client is key.

Benefits

  • Releases muscle knots (adhesions)

  • Improves posture and mobility

  • Reduces inflammation and scar tissue

  • Aids in injury recovery and chronic pain relief

  • Lowers stress and blood pressure

Massage

Thai Massage (currently unavailable)

Thai massage, also known as Nuad Thai or Thai yoga massage, is a traditional healing system combining acupressure, Ayurvedic principles, and assisted yoga postures. It originated in Thailand over 2,500 years ago and is rooted in Indian and Chinese medicine traditions.

Clothed Treatment: Clients remain fully clothed in loose, comfortable clothing.

No Oil: Unlike Swedish or deep tissue massage, Thai massage is typically performed without oils.

Mat-Based: It’s often done on a padded mat on the floor rather than a massage table.

Movement-Based: The practitioner guides the client through passive stretches and poses, similar to yoga.

Pressure Points: Uses hands, thumbs, elbows, knees, and feet to apply rhythmic pressure along Sen lines (energy pathways).

Benefits

  • Improves flexibility and range of motion

  • Reduces muscle tension and joint pain

  • Enhances circulation and energy flow

  • Promotes relaxation and stress relief

Massage

Swedish Massage

Swedish Massage is one of the most popular and widely practiced massage techniques in the West. It’s a gentle, relaxing full-body massage designed to improve circulation, ease muscle tension, and promote overall relaxation.

Key Features

Oil-Based: Typically uses massage oil or lotion to allow smooth, gliding strokes.

Table Massage: Performed on a massage table with the client undressed to their comfort level and draped with sheets.

Techniques Include:

- Effleurage: Long, gliding strokes

- Petrissage: Kneading and lifting the muscles

- Friction: Circular movements to break up knots

- Tapotement: Rhythmic tapping or chopping

- Vibration: Gentle shaking or trembling motions

Benefits

  • Promotes relaxation and stress reduction

  • Improves blood and lymph circulation

  • Eases muscle tension and soreness

  • Boosts immune function and mood

  • Supports overall well-being

Reiki

(Currently unavailable)

Reiki is a gentle, non-invasive form of energy healing that originated in Japan. The word “Reiki” comes from rei (universal) and ki (life energy), and it’s based on the idea that a universal life force energy flows through all living things. When that energy is low or blocked, it’s believed to contribute to stress or illness.

Reiki doesn’t diagnose or cure illness, but it’s often used as a complementary practice alongside conventional medical treatments.

Key Features

Hands-On or Hands-Above: The practitioner places their hands lightly on or just above the client’s body in a series of positions.

Stillness & Presence: Unlike massage, Reiki involves no manipulation of muscles—just still, intentional touch and energy focus.

Fully Clothed: Clients remain fully clothed and typically lie on a massage table or sit in a chair.

Subtle Experience: Sensations vary—some people feel heat, tingling, or waves of energy; others just feel deeply relaxed.

Benefits

  • Reduces stress and anxiety

  • Promotes emotional balance and inner peace

  • Enhances healing and overall well-being

  • Improves sleep and mental clarity

  • Supports recovery from illness or trauma
